Even if we don’t know everything from her childhood days, for more than 3 years now, we have seen CL grow up right before our eyes to transform into a more mature woman embracing her feminine side. When did it start?
In 2009, YGE introduced to us a group named 2NE1 with the leader CL. We didn’t know much about her except that she is the charismatic leader, main rapper and lead vocal. When 2NE1 started their own show 2NE1TV, we saw a completely different side of CL: we saw Lee Chaerin. We could see her cute side when she is in the dorm, playing with her members: Dara, Minzy and Bom. We could also see her practicing, working hard for live performances.
This is until the last season of 2NE1TV in 2011, when we learn more about CL’s personal life: her family. It’s not a surprise for all Clovers (or should I say now Baddest Lovers) that CL is a really private person. But on her special episode with one of her great friends, Jeremy Scott, we get to see her aunt and her grandma and she had her coming of age right before our eyes (we even got to see Chaerin wearing a hanbok for the first time).
Now Lee Chaerin is trying to reach out more to her fans. Me2day? That is so 2009 (well more like may 2012). Now it’s all about Instagram. We all had to thank the great Lord of SNS who allowed the queen Lee Chaerin to grace us of her presence on December 26 2012. And instead of an update once in a blue moon, we can get to 6 updates a day!! Amazing right?
2012 was also the day CL decided to show off her feminine side. Long forgotten were the pants. For ‘I Love You’ promotion, CL decided to display her amazing thighs proudly by wearing dresses, shorts and skirts. How happy were we when she finally decided to show that side of her?
CL didn’t stop only on the stage level and managed to show this side of her even at the airport as seen on those two of my favorites airport looks from her in 2012
So we were even happier when she managed to snatch her first ever solo CF with Cass Beer. On July 2012, the first Cass Light TV CF was released. Let’s watch it again.
Apart from her CF, our very own Chaerin did a few other projects alone. She designed her very first piece (a mesh shirt) for 2NE1 World Tour, attended Chanel’s ‘The Little Black Jacket’ Party at Seoul and went all the way to Hong Kong to attend Jeremy Scott’s party. She was able to hang out with some friends: Julia Chan, Baby Mary etc… In the end, she graced us with the cover of Hong Kong’s Ketchup magazine with iconic and eye-catching pieces while posing with charisma.
2012 ended with CL’s solo performance at Gayo Daejun awards. Honestly, it wasn’t her best performance, but I believe this pushed her to work more and do better. And so 2013 has started and it has been a rollercoaster for all Blackjacks/CLovers. She went to a “secret trip” in London, did a shoot with Yoon and gave an interview. There, she got to meet ASAP Rocky. And a few weeks later, she went to New York to support her friend Jeremy for his fashion show. At this fashion show, we saw CL hanging out with the hipsters: Asap, Daniela Levigne, Terry Richardson, Kat Graham etc…
A great writer named Maya Angelou said that “You can only become truly accomplished at something you love. Don’t make money your goal. Instead, pursue the things you love doing, and then do them so well that people can’t take their eyes off you.” I hope in 2013 you get to achieve more goals Lee Chaerin and that even more people won’t be able to take their eyes off you (be it to admire you, your work, praise you, criticize you or simply love you).
Billboard decided to do an interview with CL when she was in New York and we got to know more about 2NE1 future activities and CL’s solo project. They say “Success is a journey, not a destination” It’s only the beginning of 2013 but it seems like we are in for an amazing journey with Lee Chaerin.
